The Second Phase of the Educational Scholarship Programme for the Children of Lottery Sales Agents and Sales Assistants in the Central Province

The first programme of the special scholarship initiative, conducted with the full financial sponsorship of the Development Lotteries Board (DLB) to provide educational scholarships to the children of lottery agents and sales assistants, was launched in the North Central Province. The second programme of this initiative was held on 27 September 2026 at the Kandy District Secretariat, for the children of lottery sales agents and sales assistants in the Central Province.

The event was attended by Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, Member of the Board of Management of the President’s Fund and Hon. Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka; Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni, Deputy Minister of Health; Mr. Prasanna Gunasena, Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways; and Members of Parliament representing the Kandy District. The event was also attended by Dr. Harsha Suranga Fernando, Governor of the Central Province, along with government officials.

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Development Lotteries Board, Attorney-at-Law Mr. Hemantha Swarnathilaka, together with other officials of the Board, also participated in the programme.

The third programme of this initiative is expected to be held in the Western Province, with the programme scheduled to be expanded in the future to cover all provinces across the island.

The Development Lotteries Board not only returns the money you spend on a lottery ticket to the public in the form of prizes, but also extends its generous contribution towards various initiatives carried out for the benefit and wellbeing of our own people.
