Development Lotteries Board Donates Rs. 15.5 Million to Support Victims of Cyclone “Ditwa”

The Development Lotteries Board (DLB), in line with its long-standing commitment to national service and social responsibility, has donated Rs. 15.5 million to assist communities affected by Cyclone Ditwa, which impacted Sri Lanka on 28 and 29 November.

For more than four decades, the DLB has played a key role as a leading state institution, contributing not only by awarding winnings to lottery participants but also by funding vital national welfare initiatives. These include financial assistance for critical illnesses and complex medical treatments through the President’s Fund, contributions to the Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Fund, and support for numerous other social welfare programs.

Recognising the urgent need to provide relief to those affected by the cyclone, the Board of Directors of the Development Lotteries Board approved this donation as part of its corporate and social responsibility.

Accordingly, funds initially allocated for sales and promotional activities were redirected to the “Rebuilding Sri Lanka” Fund. The official cheque was handed over on 02nd February 2026 to the Hon. Secretary to the President by the Chairman of the Development Lotteries Board, Mr. Hemantha Swarnathilake.
